Perceptions of Community Welcoming: Measuring Individuals’ Experiences and Satisfaction with Services in Sault Ste. Marie

This paper explores and measures individuals’ experiences and satisfaction with services and support in Sault Ste. Marie, to guide population attraction and retention efforts. Findings revealed that overall individuals are satisfied with these services, although a third of respondents who identified as immigrants had difficulty accessing them. The greatest opportunities for improvement would be diversity and inclusion services, public transportation, and religious and cultural services. Likewise, individuals are satisfied with their employment situation. And it is primarily economic factors that contribute the most to making individuals feel welcome in Sault Ste. Marie.
