Write for Us

We are seeking authors and project researchers to help us explore all areas of our research priorities. Why not propose to write a research paper for Northern Policy Institute or submit existing work?

Northern Policy Institute is committed to publishing independent, evidence based and peer reviewed research and analysis. Much of that work will be done by contract authors and outside experts. If you are willing to consider being an author, reader or project researcher on contract, or if you know of experts in all policy areas that we can or should call on, please let us know.

Northern Policy Institute staff, members, volunteers, and guest authors are invited to produce blogs and op-eds to be published on the Northern Policy Institute website and, in some cases, in daily, weekly, and monthly publications across Northern Ontario.

Contractors

NPI constantly collects names, resumes and contact information for individuals to serve on our many internal volunteer groups or as paid contractors as authors, readers, or researchers. Individuals are invited to self-nominate or to nominate others for any and all of these positions. All applicants and all positions are reviewed regularly to ensure the maximum breadth and diversity of views within Northern Policy Institute.

How to participate

In an effort to keep our stakeholders informed and to avoid wasteful duplication of effort, Northern Policy Institute is pleased to receive input from every possible source about policy work relevant to Northern Ontario.

Northern Data Bank

We are working with various partners to construct both a Northern Data Bank and a bank of known Northern data sources. We need your help. If you know of a regularly collected data set that measures work, life or play in the north (or any portion of the north), please let us know.

Knowledge North: Online Library of Northern Research Studies

Northern Policy Institute is committed to doing research if necessary, but not necessarily research. There are literally hundreds (likely thousands) of studies into northern growth and how to accelerate it, sustain it and manage it.

Stakeholder organizations like Common Voice Northwest and the Ministry of Northern Development are working with us to facilitate our goal of placing as much of this research as possible in a single, searchable, location online. We need your help. If you know of a study, or ten, please let us know. If you publish a new one, let us know that too.
